Together with its licensee, Michels Pipe Services, Sekisui NordiTube, Inc. solved a recurring water main problem for the city of Pasco, WA, with its water main rehabilitation solution NordiPipe. The leaking 12-inch water pipe was located under an active railway intersection in the southeast side of the Pasco. The deteriorated existing pipe was successfully rehabilitated increasing the functionality of Pasco`s water supply system.

Enbridge recently sprang into action after confirming a minor anomaly on its 30-inch Line 6B crude oil pipeline where it crosses under the St. Clair River spanning from Marysville, MI, to St. Clair Township, Ontario.

What a difference six years makes.

In 2004, Michels Directional Crossings set a horizontal directional drilling (HDD) industry record for its completion of two parallel 7,080-foot-long, 8-inch diameter steel high voltage transmission lines beneath the Cooper River in Charleston, SC.

In January, Michels Corp. hosted a pipe coating research and development demonstration at the company’s headquarters in Brownsville, WI. Michels invited three pipe-coating companies to demonstrate and test the difference and quality between fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE) and liquid polymer.

Michels Pipeline Construction, a division of Brownsville, WI-based Michels Corp., has been awarded spreads 1-4 of TransCanada’s Keystone XL Gulf Coast Expansion Project.

Michels Pipeline Construction will install 371 miles of 36-inch pipe running from Payne County, OK, to Angelina County, TX. Michels Directional Crossings will also perform 19 directional drills required along the route.

Construction on TransCanada Corporation’s long-distance, large-diameter C$5.2 billion Keystone crude oil pipeline reaching from Canada’s Alberta oil fields to markets in the U.S. Midwest is grinding to completion after more than two years of intensive construction activity.

The recently completed Line 108 Replacement Project featured the use of HDD for portions of the pipeline installation beneath two rivers and two extremely sensitive natural areas.

According to FERC, the Kinder Morgan’s Rockies Express Pipeline is the largest currently under construction. Members of the Commission have unofficially dubbed it “The King of Pipelines.”
