New Cat 336E Hydraulic Excavator Reduces Engine Emissions

May 2011, Vol. 66 No. 5

Operator station promotes safety and efficiency
A new cab safety feature is the addition of a Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS). The 336E cab also is sealed and sound insulated, which reduces operator fatigue and allows the operator to work more productively.

A new monitor in the cab is 40 percent larger and provides enhanced resolution. The monitor, which features quick-access buttons that complement a new screen layout, can display as many as two camera images. A rearview camera housed in the counterweight area is an option.

For enhanced operator comfort, heights of the joystick consoles are adjustable, and the seat cushion is wider. An optional air-cooled seat improves operator comfort in warm weather, and a new air conditioner compressor enhances cab cooling. For greater safety, time-delay working lights remain on longer for entering and exiting the cab at night.

New layouts ease service
To simplify routine maintenance, the 336E uses a side-by-side cooling package that eliminates previously stacked cooling modules. The new cooling package is readily accessible through large, sturdy doors. Also, optional remote engine oil and hydraulic oil drains facilitate environmentally friendly service, and the redesigned air conditioning system is easy to maintain.
