United Rentals Inc. has announced the further expansion of its specialty branch network with the addition of three locations dedicated to providing power generation and climate control solutions.

Rentals of equipment in the United States are expected to exceed $38 billion in 2013 says the most recent quarterly forecast of the American Rental Association (ARA). The report projects that equipment rental growth compared to 2012 will reach 7.9 percent by the fourth quarter of 2013.

For most residents of Denver, CO, and surrounding areas, the Denver Union Station has been a city landmark for as long as they can remember.

The name Denver Union Station brings to mind the impressive stone structure dating from 1914. However, the first train steamed into Denver in 1870 and for the next few years, railroads built individual depots. In 1881, the first Union Station consolidated rail traffic under one roof.

United Rentals Inc. has acquired the assets of Coble Trench Safety, a market leader in specialty rentals, with 11 locations in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast region.

The Common Ground Alliance (CGA), the leading organization focused on protecting underground utility lines and the safety of people who dig near them, announced a national partnership with United Rentals, the largest equipment rental company in the world.

Projects requiring excavation are recognized as among the most dangerous in construction, and protecting personnel who must work in trenches and surrounding areas from cave-ins is a priority with life and death implications.

For small jobs, trench protection may be as simple as dropping a trench box into the excavation. Larger jobs are more complex. A major project often requires extensive engineering and the use of specialized shielding and shoring.
