Ritchie Bros. Benefit and Public Auctions Scheduled for February

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers will conduct its annual six-day unreserved public auction at its Orlando, Fla., permanent auction site from February 15 – 20, 2010. A week prior, Ritchie Bros. also will be conducting a live benefit auction on Feb. 8 at The Rental Show with all proceeds from the sale benefiting the ARA Foundation.

“The February Orlando auction is the largest Ritchie Bros. auction of the year as well as the world’s largest industrial auction each year. Last year, with a 200-acre auction site and six days, it featured more items than any of our other auctions,” said Steve Kriebel, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers’ regional manager. Last year, the company sold more than 8,300 items, generating $184 million in gross auction proceeds at its February six-day auction in Orlando.

The ARA Foundation, established in 1976 to provide scholarships for promising students looking to enter the rental industry, now also includes an executive advisory program, disaster relief efforts and an international rental exchange. The benefit auction last year included 24 items donated by exhibitors, with the proceeds used to fund 24 scholarships for 2009-2010 students pursuing rental-related education at accredited institutions.

This year’s benefit auction features a wide range of donated items, including equipment and travel packages.
