Robert G. Darden To Lead Distribution Contractors Association


At the recent mid-year meeting in Jackson Hole, WY, of the Distribution Contractors Association, association President Shepard T. Poole (president, The Hallen Construction Company, Island Park, NY,) announced the DCA Board of Directors approved the appointment of Robert G. Darden as executive vice president, effective Aug. 1.

Darden is assuming the position currently held by Dennis J. Kennedy, who will retire Dec. 31, 2009. Kennedy has held the position as executive vice president and chief operating officer since 1989. He will continue to serve as a consultant to the DCA.

Darden has over 25 years of international meeting management and association experience, most recently with Plano based QuEST Forum as executive director. Previously, he held positions with the Young Presidents’ Organization and Spear One Productions.

Darden was graduated from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, and also attended the Paul M. Hebert Law Center. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives; Meeting Professionals International and has been qualified as a certified meeting planner.

The DCA was founded in 1961to represent contractors in their relationships with organized labor. Members of the national association work in the construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of gas distribution pipeline systems, and installation of cable and telecommunication systems.

The association is also a primary advocate and organization of contractors that are involved in horizontal directional drilling throughout the United States.
