UCT 2017 Call For Proposals
The 2017 Underground Construction Technology International Conference & Exhibition (UCT) is now accepting proposals for presentations for its Educational Program.
Submission Deadline: May 2, 2016
The UCT program is an interactive forum to share perspectives, present ideas and explore issues for the construction and rehabilitation of underground piping infrastructure via both trenchless and open-cut methods. The audience includes contractors, owners and consulting engineers.
Proposal Submission
- Only unique presentations will be accepted. Proposals that have been previously presented or are pending approval at another conferences, will not be accepted
- Include a presentation title (brief is better)
- Provide an explanation of your presentation (125 words)
- Include complete name, title, company, address, phone and e-mail of speaker(s) who will actually be attending and presenting
- Word format only (no PDFs)
- Proposals must be received by May 2, 2016

Acceptance Process
- Once abstract proposals are reviewed, the UCT advisory committees will notify authors of acceptance status
- For accepted proposals, authors must submit a complete presentation (Word document or PowerPoint) no later than Dec. 1, 2016. No presentations will be accepted without on-time submittal and strict adherence to UCT guidelines.
- Accepted presentations will be published in conference proceedings
Presentation Guidelines
- UCT is not a specific engineering/technical conference. While engineering presentations are welcome, presentations emphasizing the practical, real-world needs of contractors, owners and engineers in the underground construction and rehabilitation markets are preferred.
- Most sessions will allow for approximately 20 minutes of presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A. Requests for longer times (45 minutes of presentation and 10 minutes of Q&A) will be considered but must be made when abstract is submitted. The UCT advisory committees will make final decisions regarding presentation lengths
- Final presentations must be generic. Excessive use of proprietary logos and other references are not permitted
- Proposals from contractors, utilities/owners and engineers rather than vendor-only sessions are strongly preferred. Presentations by vendors for the emerging technology program or for tutorial tracks, must include a contractor, owner or engineer as the primary speaker.
- Areas to be covered include (but are not limited to) the construction and rehabilitation of underground infrastructure systems, including trenchless and open-cut:
o Case histories and project presentations;
o Enhancements of current construction and rehabilitation equipment/methods;
o Effective or new concepts for construction and rehab equipment/methods;
o Industry trends, issues and concerns;
o Emerging technologies; and
o Damage prevention and safety.
