UCT Annual ShowStopper Award Winners Announced

Five exhibiting companies were honored with ShowStopper Awards at the 2016 Underground Construction Technology International Conference & Exhibition (UCT) held Feb. 3 – 4 in Atlanta. The winners were:
- HammerHead Trenchless Equipment;
- Radius HDD Tools;
- Raven Lining Systems;
- Contech Engineered
- Solutions; and
- Mabey Inc.
The Atlanta UCT is the second year ShowStopper Awards were given. Every UCT exhibit is considered. Judges are a panel of independent industry experts. Judges consider products or services presented in the exhibit as well as the presentation of the exhibit itself. A winner can be a product, services or for exhibit design, eye appeal and functionality.
Each 2016 winner was named for overall booth design that drew attention, effectively presented the range of products or services offered by the exhibitor, and provided an inviting environment for show attendees.
The sizes of winning exhibits ranged from a single 10-foot space, to in-line multi-booth displays to one large island exhibit.
HammerHead Trenchless Equipment (hammerheadtrenchless.com): (pictured above) This was the largest exhibit of the 2016 winners and the oversized island space was packed with equipment and innovative displays, yet allowed room for staff and visitors to discuss business. The vertical corner post structures connected at the top by horizontal cross pieces of the same design provided a clearly-defined place for visitors to enter. The HammerHead line includes pipe bursting and pipe ramming equipment, piercing tools, HDD downhole tools and rock hammers, and pipe lining systems.
Radius HDD Tools (www.radiushdd.com): Packed with product and brightly lighted, the Radius exhibit displayed an impressive array of products that was well designed and definitely attracted attention. Radius products include every component of an HDD drill string, including drive chucks and sub savers, starter rods and quick connectors, adaptors, swivels, housings, bits and blades, rock tools, backreamers and other parts and accessories.
Raven Lining Systems (www.ravenlining.com): Raven’s exhibit design drew attention providing UCT attendees the opportunity to learn about Raven’s line of epoxies, polyurethanes and polyureas, cements and primers, sealers and fillers. Well established with the water and wastewater industries, Raven recently entered the oil and gas markets.
Contech Engineered Solutions (www.conteches.com): This company provides infrastructure site solutions for engineers, contractors, architects and owners in a wide variety of markets. Those pertaining to underground construction include sanitary sewer, storm water management and erosion control. Contech helps build, support and sustain a variety of land development projects by methods that protect the environment. The company’s in-line display at UCT was attractive and inviting to those moving along the aisle.
Mabey (www.mabey.com): Judges liked the simple design of Mabey’s 10-foot space which provided an instant visual overview of the company’s line of trench boxes, shielding and shoring equipment. A continuous video slide show depicted specific product applications. In addition to trench shielding and shoring, Mabey provides engineered steel equipment for bridging and structural support.
